Tawkify vs It's Just Lunch compared on cost, contracts and how the dates work
MatureMeet editorial team
Tawkify and It's Just Lunch both put a human matchmaker between you and a first date, and both charge thousands of dollars before you meet anyone. Tawkify sells a fixed number of matches and plans each date in full. It's Just Lunch sells a membership and sets up casual lunches or drinks in your city. If you want a matchmaker without a package paid up front, a monthly service such as MatureMeet VIP Concierge at $149 a month is the third option.

Neither company publishes a price list, so every cost figure here comes from third party reviews, news reports and client accounts published up to October 2026. Treat them as a range and ask each firm for a written quote.
Which is cheaper, Tawkify or It's Just Lunch?
It's Just Lunch is usually cheaper in total than Tawkify, based on published client reports, but neither is cheap. Reported It's Just Lunch memberships run from about $2,700 to $3,800 and higher depending on the city and the number of dates. Tawkify's entry package is reported at about $4,900 for three matches, and larger packages cost $10,000 or more.
The total is only half of the comparison. Divide the quote by the number of introductions written into the contract. At $4,900 for three matches, a Tawkify introduction costs about $1,600. An It's Just Lunch contract that guarantees one introduction a month for six months at $3,000 works out to $500 each. Ask for the guaranteed number, not the hoped for number, because that is the only figure the firm has to honor.
How does Tawkify work?
Tawkify assigns you a matchmaker who interviews you, searches a network of singles and chooses your match for you. The company then plans the date and collects feedback from both people afterward. You do not browse profiles or send messages. Paying clients are matched both with other clients and with people recruited from the wider network.
The appeal is that you hand over the whole search. The risk is that you are paying a high price for a very small number of dates, and three evenings is not much room for a mismatch. If the first two are wrong, a third of your budget is left to get it right.
How does It's Just Lunch work?
It's Just Lunch interviews you, then a matchmaker in your area picks a member and arranges a short first date, usually lunch, brunch or a drink after work. You are told the time and place and a little about the person. After the date you call in your feedback, and the next match is meant to reflect it.
The format is deliberately light. An hour over lunch is easier to fit into a working week than a full evening, and it is easier to end politely. The weakness is the pool. Your matches come from the firm's members in your city, so the service is only as good as the number of people your age who have joined near you. Ask how many active members in your age range live within a reasonable drive before you sign.
What to check in the contract before you pay
Both services ask for payment before the first date, so the contract is where you protect yourself. Read it at home, not in the sales call, and look for these points.
- The exact number of introductions you are guaranteed and the period in which they must happen.
- What counts as an introduction. A date the other person cancels should not use one up.
- The refund terms if the firm cannot find matches, and whether a refund is at the firm's discretion.
- Whether your preferences on age, distance, children and religion are binding or only guidance.
- Whether you can pause the membership, and for how long.
- How the fee is paid. A sales team that pushes you to decide today is a reason to wait.
Several states give you a short cooling off period on dating service contracts. Check the rules for your state before you sign, and keep a copy of everything.
Can you afford the package?
A matchmaking package is a large one time expense, and some people put it on a credit card or accept financing offered in the sales call. Before you do, look at what a new balance of several thousand dollars would do to your credit score and your monthly payments. A service that is worth $5,000 to someone who can pay cash can be a poor decision for someone who will carry the balance for a year.
A simple test helps. If the same money would be hard to lose with nothing to show for it, the package is too big for you. No matchmaker can guarantee that you will like the people you meet, and both firms say so in their terms.
Is Tawkify or It's Just Lunch better for singles over 50?
Neither service is built for people over 50, although both accept them. It's Just Lunch tends to suit singles over 50 who live in a large city with an active local office and want relaxed daytime dates. Tawkify suits people who want a fuller, planned experience and can afford a higher price for fewer introductions.
For both, the question to ask is direct. How many members between my age and ten years either side live near me, and how many of them have you matched in the last three months? A firm with a deep pool of people over 50 will answer easily. If the answer is vague, expect matches outside the range you asked for.
There is also the matter of meeting someone with no information. Many people over 50 have been through a divorce or lost a partner, and they prefer to know a little more than a first name before they give up an evening. Reading a profile, hearing a voice and seeing a short video first is not less romantic. It is simply how you avoid three expensive dates with people you would have ruled out in a minute.
The third option, a monthly matchmaker for over 40s and 50s
If the size of the up front payment is what holds you back, a monthly concierge changes the risk. You pay for a month, see how the introductions feel and carry on only if they are good.
| Feature | Tawkify | It's Just Lunch | MatureMeet VIP Concierge |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Tawkify package up front | It's Just Lunch membership up front | MatureMeet VIP Concierge $149 a month, or $74 a month billed yearly at $888 |

| Before the date | Tawkify little or no profile | It's Just Lunch first name and a short description | MatureMeet VIP Concierge profile, photos, voice messages and a video intro |
| Leaving | Tawkify per contract | It's Just Lunch per contract | MatureMeet VIP Concierge cancel any time in Billing |
With MatureMeet VIP Concierge your matchmaker holds an intake call by video or phone, rewrites your profile with you and hand picks up to 4 introductions a month from members who have all passed a selfie and phone check. When you both say yes, your concierge suggests a venue and a time. Between introductions you can search and message on your own, which neither package service includes.
It is not the same product, and you should know the difference. A traditional firm recruits people on your behalf and runs the date for you. A concierge works inside a membership of people who joined because they want a relationship. What you gain is a price you can read in advance, a way out every month and verified people. Our Tawkify alternative page sets the two side by side in detail, and plans and pricing lists every price.
Meet someone worth your time
Start with VIP ConciergeHow to decide in ten minutes
Write down three numbers for each service you are considering. The total you will pay in the first three months, the number of introductions guaranteed in that time and the amount you get back if you stop early. Then add one fact, whether you can see who you are meeting before the date.
- Choose Tawkify if you want every detail handled, the price is comfortable and you like the idea of a planned surprise.
- Choose It's Just Lunch if you live near one of its active offices, want short daytime dates and have read the contract closely.
- Choose a monthly concierge if you are over 40, want verified introductions and would rather spend $149 to find out than $4,900.
If you are still not sure a matchmaker is right for you at all, our guide on whether a matchmaking service for over 50 is worth it walks through who benefits and who does not.
Is It's Just Lunch worth the money?
It's Just Lunch is worth the money only if the local pool fits you and the contract guarantees a clear number of introductions. It works best for busy professionals in large cities who want short, low pressure first dates. It is poor value where the firm has few members in your age range, so ask for that number first.
Is there a matchmaking service you can pay for monthly?
Yes. MatureMeet VIP Concierge is a matchmaking service billed monthly at $149, or $74 a month billed yearly at $888, with no package to buy. It includes an intake call, a profile rewrite and up to 4 hand picked introductions a month for members aged 40 to 80. You cancel in your account whenever you like.
